Spring Into Savings!

Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a terrific Tuesday!

Spring is my favorite season...erm aside from all the pollen, that is. I love spring fashion, but from all my recent spending, not to mention overpriced Disneyland food, my wallet is...crying.

But fear no more, because as we all know, clothes are not the only way to enjoy spring fashion! If you're on a tight budget, just try a new lip color or add an accessory to your look. I guarantee it will transform your outfit.

Spring Makeup

Revlon Lip Butter (Raspberry Tart and Sweet Tart)

Great for a natural tint and moisture !

Pink Blush

A pink blush with no brown/dark undertone will give you a romantic, blushing look

Hair Accessories

DIY Mint Blue Bow

Makes any outfit girly and fun!

Beige Bow Barrette

Since beige is a very sweet and subtle color, it would be perfect for a Friday night date! ;)

Scrunchie

Who says scrunchies are only for tying your hair before washing your face?
With the right design, they can add a little more fun to your lazy, Monday-morning-ponytails

Braids

I guess this one isn't an accessory...

Okay that's all! I hope it was somewhat informative.

Perfect the Dress with Accessories!

With junior prom coming up (gasp - this Friday!) I'm sure that most of you all have your ideal dresses already. But how do you make your outfit complete? It's simple- just use accessories!

Read on for five different types of accessories that you can use at prom or anytime. You can buy cheap but versatile accessories from basically anywhere - these are from Forever 21.

Stand out from the rest with hair accessories. While everyone else will have their hair in mainstream curls, you can shine with jewelry - for your hair! Beaded headbands, pastel chiffon flowers, and pearls are all perfect for prom.

Necklaces are a must if you have an updo! Wear a simple charm necklace, or be more courageous and sport a statement necklace. We love turquoise, collars, and thick chains. Also, they make strapless or low-cut necklines more modest.

Whether your hair is down or in a fancy updo, earrings spice up an outfit. Especially against dark hair, earrings add a bit of glamourous detail.

Rings bring more interest to your hands, especially while posing for pictures. Like earrings, wear rings with dark colors to emphasize their eye-catching shine.

Every girl's gotta keep her phone, makeup, and other necessities with her at all time. Regretfully, most dresses don't come with pockets, so carry them in style. If your dress is a solid or neutral color, make a statement with a bright or patterned clutch. Sequins, studs, and glitter aren't just for art projects!

Accessories are extremely important to any outfit, and they must be used thoughtfully. Don't wear a bold necklace, hoop earrings, and a cocktail ring. Only pick one or two of your favorites.
Whatever you wear, wear it proudly; confidence is key.

Have fun accessorizing at prom!

Daily Style: St. Patrick's Day

Yaoyao wears an H&M cardigan, American Eagle button-down, Forever 21 shorts, Sperry's, and bangles from Wet Seal.

This simple outfit is not only perfect for St. Patrick's Day, but also appropriate for church! Tan shorts and a dress shirt elevate the look while the cute mint cardigan and boat shoes keep it casual. Since it's a tad plain, she added gold bangles and a pearl bracelet as accents and rolled up the shirt sleeves.

Although this look is not bold at all, it's quite fitting for one of those quick outfit fixes on a mundane day of school. It's not completely boring because of the classic feel its evoking, but at the same time, it's very easy to put together. In addition, it's suitable for spring weather! So without further ado, have a great St. Patrick's!

Festival Fashion @ SXSW 2013

The nine-day SXSW (South by Southwest) festival of 2013 is finally coming to an end. Even though I didn't get to be at there where all the cool people are at, I'm still bittersweet to be parting with my expertise stalking of its street style and hip music. SXSW definitely does not host the conventional LA or NYC type of style that I usually enjoy, but somehow I was drawn to the bizarre pairings, eclectic colors, and mixed patterns of the festival.

In commemoration of the unique style, I thought I'd share some of my favorite looks out on the streets of Austin, Texas.

Hot pink maxi skirts have never been so hip! Her polka-dotted bustier top contributes even more boldness to the
look while the denim shirt dresses everything down a notch. Also, the booties add a nice familiar touch to the outfit.

I wonder what was running through her head when she chose that orange skirt off the shelf.... because it actually works in this look! The unexpected
shirt pairing goes perfectly with the silliness of her sunglasses and skirt, and the added height of the sneakers elevates it to the futuristic spin.

How do you dress in one color without looking like you're in kindergarten? Take a few cues from this stylish festival-goer. The
boxy top and fitted pants make this look fresh and minimalistic, especially with the neutral accessories to tone it down a bit.

There can't be a festival that goes by without at least one photo of Alexa Chung's amazing style. Here, her graphic tee works
splendidly with the hints of metallics throughout her outfit, and her sandals keep the cool while not overdoing the look.

This girl displays the perfect example of a casual but dressy look. The simple boots and military vest  keep it fun for the festivals
without ditching the classy. Accessories also play a key role, and she nails it with the minimal purse and work-appropriate jewelry.

I love the effortless vibe of Texas street style that this look emanates. The vintage-looking top is adorable with classic
cowboy boots. Although there aren't many components to this outfit, the simplicity is what catches my eye.

Daily Style: 3.13.13

Rachel wears an Apt 9 headband, graphic crop top from Forever 21, vintage Calvin Klein highwaisted pinstripe shorts, and TOMS.

As spring approaches and the weather gets warmer, we're excited to start embracing summer and spring fashion. Headbands make the outfit stand out from the rest! Even if you're having a bad hair day, headbands solve the problem by giving you a messy yet regal look.

She also mixed prints and textures - suede TOMS, pinstriped shorts, and a graphic top wouldn't seem to go together, right? But because they are in a similar color family, it works!

We love how with warm weather, there's much more freedom in styles of clothing. With sundresses, tanks, shorts, and skirts, we can make statements without wearing the same coat every other day! Something about the sun on our backs makes us start being more bold in the clothes we wear. Be bold today!

What to Wear: "Sprinter" Weather

It's time to start digging out your warm weather clothing! Spring is just around the corner.

... But you guys know very well that it's not exactly warm enough to wear spring/summer clothing yet... The mornings are chilly and the afternoons are hot with the sun up high. Well, fear not, because I can help you on that! I've constructed three outfits that I find perfect for this weird season transition. Although these pieces strongly reflect my personal style, these outfits can serve as templates for other outfits (in your personal style) as well; for example, in the first outfit, you can switch out the floral tights for knee-highs and the knotted blouse for a tucked-in top.

Happy daylight savings, and good luck outfit-constructing! :)

The Edgy Prep
The Topshop leather skirt and River Island knit cardigan are both insulating and airy, making it perfect for the breezy weather. For a cute spring addition, wear the Aritzia knotted blouse and River Island floral tights. Go casual heel this season with the Old Navy oxford pump, and top everything off with an Urban Outfitters locket necklace.

The Carefree Indie
This look is perfect for those lazy days with no outfit ideas. Just slip on your favorite band tee and comfy black leggings, layered with an unbuttoned American Apparel flannel shirt. If it gets warmer, just roll up the sleeves! To make the outfit more structured, wear Dr. Martens boots over wool ankle socks.

The Cute Casual
After long months of wearing only long skinny jeans, change it up a bit! Since it's not warm enough for shorts, just roll up the denim like this pair of H&M boyfriend jeans. Cashmere is the perfect material for the transitioning weather, so this Uniqlo sweater works wonderfully. Glitter it up with these Toms shoes, and insulate yourself in the cold morning with this Asos pom beanie. Finish everything off with a cute Free People rucksack.
